Over the weekend we had the pleasure of teaming up with Cryptic Sea’s Alex Austin and Team Ethereal’s Kent Vasko to work on a 48 hour game project for an online competition for Ludum Dare.
Founded by Geoff Howland and started in 2002, the competition challenges indie game developers to create a game from scratch based on a theme that is created by the community.
We started out by brainstorming ideas, getting some of the most ridiculous ideas out first. The theme announced was: It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this!
Some of the ideas where random ranged from Bums trying to keep their sack of nickles safe to a dating game where you need to get condoms before you go out on a date. We came up with 3 ideas that we decided to develop and 3 of us started prototyping a concept for each one while everyone else started to come up with design and art ideas. An hour or 2 later and after much discussion we finally chose an idea.
Check back soon to find out what kind of zany game idea we were able to come up with!
